EDF

Founded in 1946, EDF Energy is part of the EDF Group, which has more than 38 million customers and is one of the largest suppliers of electricity and gas in Europe. More than two thirds are based in France while they have a great presence in both Italy and Germany. It is no surprise that EDF Energy, based in the UK, reaches a massive client base of more than 7 million residential and business customers. On November 24th, EDF became a public limited company (EDF SA).

EDF Energy was born out of the combining of three UK based energy companies in 2004. These were SEEBoard, London Energy and SWEB.

EDF Energy offers their customers ‘Nectar Points’ which are loyalty points based on energy consumption and can be redeemed from EDF Energy for products and services. They are the only electric and gas supplier in the UK to offer a reward program. To promote their services, the Olympic Games that will be hosted in London in 2012 are sponsored in part by EDF Energy.
