Domestic Gas and Electricity
Savings Made Easy
How to Switch Supplier
No matter where in the UK you live you are able to decide who will supply you with electricity and gas. You can even go so far as to choose separate companies for each fuel type. However, duel fuel contracts, where the same supplier provides both electricity and gas, are usually cheaper because of the discounts that are offered.
Because each supplier offers different rates, it may be possible to find another supplier offering lower rates than your current supplier. To find out, start by working out your annual electricity and gas spend using your bank statements or energy bills. Our experts can assist you to work this out. To get in touch simply call us on 01943 882189.
How can I know how much other suppliers charge?
All suppliers are obliged to make their prices public. In this way you are able to do some comparisons before asking for a detailed quote or a better deal. Stick to the suppliers in your area as they are bound to offer lower rates than those further away from you. PCM Switch can take the leg work out of this tedious and often time consuming process. Finding the cheapest supplier in your area has never been easier. Click here for a free non obligatory service.
What are the various ways to pay?
Suppliers offer a number of ways to pay so that the customer can find the best option that suits them. You can choose to pay your energy bills on a weekly or monthly basis. Payment methods include cash, cheque, postal order and direct debit. Direct debit is the preferred option for many suppliers and as a result it is cheaper for the customer to choose to pay by direct debit.
Many suppliers also offer a prepayment option which is based on the type of meter you have. If you would prefer to switch to direct debit option it is relatively simple to have the pre-paid meter replaced with a regular electricity meter.
Choosing the best tariff
Tariff options vary depending mainly on the payment method. Choose the option that suits you best as a customer. Remember always that VAT for electricity and gas is charged at 5%, for this reason you will find that PCM Switch always adds 5% to all of our quotes.
What else do I need to look out for?
Be alert for hidden expenses such as penalty fees for cancelling a contract before it expires so that you are free to compare prices at any stage. Also the rate itself is not a proper indication of how you will be able to save on energy costs. It is more determined by the way you use your electricity.
For example, electricity might have a lower rate until a predetermined threshold. Thereafter the unit rates are higher. This option may not suit your energy consumption. PCM Switch is sure to check this kind of information thoroughly during the price comparison service.
How does PCM Switch deal with service complaints?
PCM Switch rates suppliers on a number of variables that includes price as well as service quality. Our customer care team is very happy to discuss any questions relating to a suppliers service. Simply pick up the phone and give us a call.
Switching to a new supplier
Changing from one supplier to the next is not always an easy task. That is why PCM Switch takes full responsibility for the switch process, ensuring that it is complete. Once you have switched you become the responsibility of the new supplier. Before switching you can help by ensuring that there is nothing outstanding with your old supplier. This can prolong the switching process. Once you have decided to make the change you will be given a date. On that date take note of the meter reading so that any complications can be cleared up.
