New Energy Technology Job Growth Expected by MEP
By Anne Lewis-Schneider
Edward McMillan-Scott is a long serving MEP in the Yorkshire and Humber areas which have been hard hit by unemployment. This will hopefully see a turn around after talks were held by the MEP and Chairman of HLEP, Lord Haskins from Humber along with James Newman from Sheffield City Region and visits to several other firms in related enterprises.
Newly formed Local Enterprise Partnership is already hard at work and concentrating on job creation as well as the development of new technologies, with business and academics joining together to create new opportunities. Edward McMillan-Scott toured the facilities at the Hull site of Croda where he saw first-hand how the efforts of green energy are at work. The plant supplies more than 40% of their energy from a wind turbine. He later viewed the model for the Energy Works project which has received EU funding for almost £20 million for energy from waste plant at the Spencer Group.
