How to find your Gas Prices kWhIn order to understand your billing accounts for gas you need to understand how the gas company arrives at the Gas Prices kWh. This will go a long way towards keeping control of your gas bills. There are two basic types of meters used to read consumption of gas the credit meter which will record how much gas you use, the consumption of used gas is recorded or measured in units. To arrive at the kWh the gas units should be multiplied by 31.3 to convert from units to kWh. Imperial meters are slightly different, imperial meters measure in hundreds of cubic feet. To get the kWh from units for imperial meters you need to follow this formula: . Take your readings then multiply the read units by 2.83 this will give you the amount of cubic metres of used gas. This explanation should be recorded on your gas bill. Credit meters are usually quarterly bills, and a meter reader will come round and record you reading for the quarter. Your monthly bills for the two months between readings will be estimated readings. If you want a more accurate reading monthly you can call your gas company and give them a reading for them to work on. When you call the gas company you will have to give the MPRN which is found on your gas bill. This is a unique number that identifies you gas meter. The other type of meter is a pre-paid meter which means that your payment is made upfront before you use any units of gas. You no longer feed a prepaid meter with coins, tokens or keys, like the old days, today you use a smart card for the modern prepayment meters. Charge up the card with credit and the meter records the gas usage for you. Finding the best business gas is another way of saving on gas usage, especially if your contract with your present supplier is about to expire. Don’t wait for the end of the contract then decide you need to look into the matter. It’s always best to investigate a few months before the expiry date. So if you want to switch, you are prepared and ready for a smooth change over on time, you could decide to do the investigations on your own, it might be time consuming but not an impossible task. However using an energy broker who is highly experienced in the different gas companies will not only save time but can save quite considerably by switching to a new supplier. Contact PCM Switch Business for more information on gas supply and how you can save, it won’t cost you a penny and you may be pleasantly surprised at how much you save.
