Greg Barker will Launch the Solar Energy UK
By Cynthia Taylor
Solar Energy UK (previously called Solar Power UK) is not in its fourth year starting on Tuesday and run through until Thursday this week at the Birmingham NEC. The aim is to drive the solar industry in the UK forward.
Greg Barker, the Energy and Climate Change Minister said that the Solar Energy UK 2013 is the biggest event for solar energy in the UK and that it attracts different companies from all over the world.
Mr Barker continued that this was the opportunity for companies to be able to showcase their innovative services and products, also to be able to do business at the same time learn about trends in the market to help remain ahead in the global race.
He said that solar power was an exciting and a dynamic technology, and that costs of this type of renewable energy source continues to fall. He also said that it has a key part to play in the energy mix for the UK. The Coalition was firmly committed to work and engage with the industry to encourage investment in growth for this green sector. Mr Barker wished everyone a fruitful and productive event.
The event this year has seen the re-branding of Solar Power UK to Solar Energy UK, and thus recognising the diversity of the companies that attended the 2012 exhibition, for generation, usage, transmission and storage of solar energy UK.
A new addition to the exhibition, the Technology Theatre will host a solar thermal forum who are n collaboration with the European Solar Thermal Industry Federation and the Solar Trade Association with the focus on the Renewable Heat Scheme. Some of the other sessions will be addressing the price yield optimization of PV systems, on market analysis, and also on the ramifications of 'anti-dumping' disputes, site surveys on the large-scale, energy storage, design, and the distribution. Thus integrating solar energy with other renewable technologies and also sales of solar.
The organisers are Solar Media and they will be launching the inaugural Solar Power Awards Gala Dinner on Tuesday the 8th October which will be held at the Hilton NE. The host will be Robert Llewellyn who is well known for his portrayal of “Kryten” in Red Dwarf shown on BBC2. The winning entrants of 10 categories will received awards for exemplary projects within the domestic, the commercial, public sectors and the large-scale sectors. And there will be a special award presented to a single individual who has shown outstanding service as well as contribution to the solar industry.
